Lawrence Yichu Yuan

Lawrence specializes in domestic and transnational litigation and arbitration in complex commercial and financial disputes.

Lawrence has interned for Hon. Gerald Lebovits at the Supreme Court of the State of New York where he wrote ruling recommendations for pending cases.

During law schools, Lawrence has focused on transnational litigation and arbitration. He earned straight As for all dispute-resolution-related courses and published an opinion piece on ITA IN REVIEW, a high-caliber journal of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. He has led a winning team in the world-renowned Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Hardy C. Dillard Award for Best Combined Memorials).

In his leisure time, Lawrence enjoys exploring translation and interpretation. He is an English-Mandarin translator certified by the PRC government (CATTI Band II) and has passed the court interpreter exam in the New York State. He has provided consecutive interpretation (Mandarin-English) to the management committee affiliated with the world’s largest bank in terms of AUM.

• Acting for a Chinese PE fund to enforce an HKIAC award before the S.D.N.Y. under the New York Convention;

• Advised several Chinese entities on defending against the recognition and enforcement of a Chinese judgment before the Supreme Court of New York, New York County;

• Advised several Chinese entities on enforcing a Chinese judgment before the Superior Court of Washington, King County.

• Defending a NASDAQ-listed Chinese automobile firm in an action involving SPAC disputes and claims for Securities Act violations before S.D.N.Y.;

• Defending a NASDAQ-listed Chinese tech firm in an action involving SPAC disputes and claims for Securities Act violations before the Supreme Court of New York, New York County;

• Defended a NYSE-listed Chinese agricultural company in an action involving claims for California blue sky law violations before Northern District of California;

• Acting for a NASDAQ-listed Chinese tech firm in an action involving breach of contract in a SPAC investment before the Supreme Court of New York, New York County;

• Acted for an American PE fund in an action involving SPAC disputes before S.D.N.Y.;

• Defended a NASDAQ-listed Chinese tech firm in an action involving SPAC disputes in a pre-suit settlement negotiation;

• Defended a NASDAQ-listed Chinese automobile firm in an action involving SPAC disputes in an ICDR international arbitration;

• Defending a New York underwriter in an action involving Securities Act violations before S.D.N.Y.;

• Acted for an institutional investor in an action involving share transfer disputes before Southern District of Florida and obtained temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction.

• Acting for a co-founder of a $6 billion joint venture in a JAMS arbitration involving breach of contract and fraud case;

• Acted for a HNWI in an action involving claims for fraud and breach of fiduciary duty in EB-5 investment before the Superior Court of Washington for King County;

• Defending entities in an action involving claims for fraud and breach of fiduciary duty in EB-5 investment before the Superior Court of Washington for King County;

• Defended an international airline in a JAMS international arbitration involving a guaranty dispute;

• Advised an international airline in a foreclosure proceeding before the Supreme Court of New York, New York County;
