Chi Yin
Of Counsel
Ms. Chi joined the firm in 2021 as of counsel. She is an expert on Chinese law. She previously served as a judge of a Chinese Intermediate People’s Court (the rough Chinese equivalent of a Federal District Court), where she presided over both appellate and first-instance cases involving white-collar, drug trafficking, and violent crimes. She also managed projects related to internal court reform and edited an internal law review journal. She has been a member of the Chinese bar since 2004, the New York State bar since 2015 and the Washington State bar since 2020.
Chi is also a research scholar at the New York University School of Law’s U.S.-Asia Law Institute, a comparative-law institute. Her research has contributed to international understanding of China’s legal system. Her numerous publications include op-eds, articles, and a bilingual compilation (as editor) of scholarly essays. Her comments have informed reporting on national and international news media such as NPR, Financial Times and South China Morning Post.
